Description

The library is open, and our Color Reader Flush Mount is here to read that builder-grade light fixture to filth.

A slim, colorful cylinder drops from a round canopy and tucks the bulb up inside, so light pours straight down where you need it, with no glare and no bare bulb in your eyes. Line a few down a hallway or over a kitchen island, or let it spotlight your beauty corner in the bathroom. For designers, it’s a small-scale downlight that brings color to retail boutiques, salons, galleries, and restaurant bars, and it’s damp-rated for spaces that can get a little steamy. It’s also a colorful alternative anywhere you’d usually spec recessed lighting. Choose from our 14 signature colors and 3 finishes. We suggest Orange and Nickel for our comedy queens or Barely and Brass for our pageant queens. Each one is made to order in our Minneapolis studio. Shop the Color Reader Pendant for task lighting that hangs closer to the counter.

Consider all sad, boring flush mounts read.

I LOVE my light fixtures!!

"I have 2 dutton-brown fixtures and I LOVE them both!. Quality, design and craftsmanship is superb! Well worth the cost. I just moved into my newly built home and I strongly suggested the lighting company I worked with to offer dutton-brown as a unique addition to their lines. I would 100% recommend dutton-brown lighting."

Perfect touch of color

"Just installed two of these in lagoon/nickel over my kitchen peninsula. Excellent quality, arrived within the time quoted and hand-packed with care. A perfect addition to add a bit of color to my all-white kitchen, and blend so well with my classic/modern/midcentury aesthetic."

Q&A

Hi, How is bulb changed?
Hi there, the bulb included in the Color Reader Flush Mount is a standard E26 base, LED, PAR16 bulb, meaning it will unscrew like a standard bulb. To remove the bulb, you will simply apply pressue to the bulb with two or three fingers and turn it counterclockwise.
How far apart should I mount these on a ceiling over a kitchen island with 10' ceilings please?
A number of factors come into play when considering what lighting options are best for a space and how to place them. Such factors include island length, existing lighting in the space, how much light is needed, preference, etc. It may be best to determine how many based upon how much light you believe you'll needed. These fixture direct light down and onto a surface, but the higher the fixtures are, the less bright the light on the countertop may be. If you're just looking for general lighting (and not task lighting), then you have more flexibility with placement. If you need the light for task work, then it may be better to consider a fixture similar to our [Reader pendant](https://www.duttonbrown.mom/products/color-reader-pendant) that pulls the light down a bit closer to the countertop. If you go this route, search for posts on "spacing kitchen island pendants" and there should be additional info to help make your decision.
